Our few days in Edinburgh were taken up with a visit to Edinburgh castle, some whiskey tasting, a bit of shopping, an brilliant opportunity to have a go playing bagpipes (surprisingly I wasn't THAT bad, and bought a chanter to practice for next time), and walking all over Edinburgh, both old and new. Of course we also had a bus tour, which I think is the best way to see any new city, and get your bearing to walk it.
We also wandered past the Floral clock, which rather disappointingly was being replanted, and incomplete at the time.
The multi media ride through the process of making the whiskey, followed by the tasting, was very interesting. Enjoyed learning the process, really enjoyed the smells from the scratch and sniff cards for the different whiskeys, but the tasting. Umm ... ja ... no ... whiskey will never be on my 'yes please' list, unless its in a Dom Pedro, which is where it mostly belongs ;)
This was the variety of blends and single malts that were available to taste, and Nick and I each had a different one so we could try each others.
On our last morning, we had a long walk along the beach path, with a view of one of the Forth bridges. I was a relatively naughty girl in Edinburgh, and didn't take the camera out with me much.
We took a bus from the caravan site into Edinburgh each day, and used Uber back in the evenings ... our first Uber experiences. Having learnt a bit of Hungarian earlier this year, before we went to Budapest, having an Uber driving from Hungary, that spoke some Afrikaans, it was lovely to be able to say 'Thank you' in Hungarian!
